Sterling Silver Creole Hoops

Creole hoops are defined by their shape rather than their size. A classic hoop is an even circle. A creole is more of a teardrop — thicker and wider at the bottom, getting thinner as it curves up towards your ear. That shape is what makes them look substantial without being heavy. Most of ours are chunky — domed crescents, flat-edge designs, and puffed croissant styles. More sculptural than delicate, and made to be seen. Our twisted and rope-twist hoops are the exception: they stay the same thickness all the way round, so the texture does the work instead.

Creole hoops typically fasten with one of three closures. The most common is the saddleback — a hinged wire post that snaps into a V-shaped notch on the back of the earring. Others feature a spring closure, where the wire slots into the hollow end of the opposite side. And some have a simple butterfly back.

Sizes run from about 13 mm to 45 mm across. Smaller creoles, around 15–25 mm, sit close to the lobe and work for everyday wear. Larger ones, 30 mm and up, make more of a statement and look great with hair worn up.

Take them out before showering, swimming or sleeping, and put them on after perfume and hairspray rather than before. Store them in an airtight pouch rather than open air.

If they do dull, the polishing cloth in your order restores them in seconds — tarnish sits on the surface and lifts easily. For heavier tarnish, a silver cleaning solution will bring the shine back.
